Modern Mythos RPG:

Story:

This RP will focus around the worldly myths surrounding our planet. Essentially, individuals from our realm are selected as champions for various "Greek god" figures (Zeus, Hermes, etc.) to combat an ancient enemy that has united against the gods on their own plane of existence. The heroes may choose who they wish to represent and receive blessings as a result, which may be in the form of abilities, skills, status changes, and rare items or relics. Yet these heroes must do combat inside the present day!

Initial Stats Determination:

Similar to other RPs this universe will utilize the 6 basic stats: Strength, Dexterity, Wisdom, Constitution, Intelligence, and Charisma. However unlike previously designed universes the method by which players receive their initial stats is far more complex. Put simply:

Str: This will be based on the number of push-ups a player can do physically without squirming or pause. For example, 10 push-ups= 10 strength.

Dex: Based on d20 roll.

Con: Based on how many jumping jacks a player can do in a minute. 20 jumping jacks/1 minute = 20 con

Int: IQ/10.

Wis: Based on number of college course hours/12.

Cha: Based on total number of friends on Facebook/15. For example, 300 friends = 20 cha

Mana/Energy:

Occasionally, heroes can use energy to use god-like feats. This energy or mana is based on the combined total of con and wis. It can only be replenished through items (such as ambrosia) or other means (see Greek God Blessings). Mana costs will be determined by DM.

Greek God Blessings:

As mentioned above, the gods will bestow blessings on the ones that choose to represent them. Below is a list of the types of blessings that players may choose from initially. Each player may only choose two features to begin initially or 1 feature and 1 unique godly item, and additional features and equipment must be bought using the "God's Coin" (Drachma).

Zeus: -+10 bonus to Str
-+10 bonus to Con
-Evepiya (Rapid Energy Recharge): when mana is reduced to "0" the energy is recharged to full in one turn.
-Item of Renown
-Electric Blasts/Immunity to electricity
-+10 bonus to stat of your choosing
-Zephyr Master

Hades: -Speak to/Command the dead
-Undead Smite
-Shadow Travel
-Summon Skeletons
-Item of Renown
-Tunnel Maker: Can create tunnels in earth that connect to the underworld
-Metal Master: Can sense and magnetize metals.

Poseidon: -Aquatic breathing and pressure/acid resistance
-Mastery of riding all horses and the ability to command horses
-Item of Renown
-Pride of Pylos: able to change form into any living creature.
-Deep Sea Communication: Communication and able to command marine life
-Current Master/Wave Maker
-Fresh Water maker: Can summon water from the earth

Apollo: -Multi-Shot: Allows a character to shoot a ranged weapon multiple times provided the character's Dex is greater than opponents. Every 2 points in Dexterity above an opponent yields an extra shot on the enemy.

-Song of Strength-Grants all heroes and self a +1d12 bonus to Str and replenishes energy of allies by 1d100.

-Bowmanship: Able to restring or make bows efficiently. Also able to make a variety of arrows.

-Musical Mastery: Able to use any instrument and sing at any pitch.

-Precognition/Postcognition- Based on 1d20 roll, character can sometimes predict events that will happen or that have already happened.

-Inspire Courage-Cancels out status effects for targets and heals up to 1d10 x 1d10 health per person.

-Solarity: Cleanses statuses and heals wounds by 1d8 x 1d4 per turn while in the sun. Also grants +5 bonuses to Str, Dex, and Cha while in the sun. Recharges self energy by 1d20 per turn.


Dionysus: -Healing hands: Heals health by a percentage
-+10 to charisma
-Summon vines
-Communicate with animals (non-aquatic life only)
-Wilderness Lore
-Cleansing Touch-Cures a target of a status.
-Everlasting drink- can fill any empty receptacle of liquids with any beverage (except water) that they desire.

Ares: -+10 to strength
-+10 to constitution
-Slash n' Heal: Every successful cut, slice, or stab made by a character on an opponent will allow them to sap a certain percentage of health from the attack based on 1d10 roll.
-Weapons Guru: Mastery of using any type of weapon.
-Second wind: Upon taking a fatal blow, the character's hp is reduced to one allowing them to survive death temporarily.
-First Strike: When attacking, a character with this ability will strike first regardless of stats.
-Mark of War: Decreases all enemies stats by 1d20. Grants an additional 1d20 x 1d4 in damage for every successful hit.

Athena: -+10 to wisdom
-+10 to intelligence
-Ambient Knowledge: Absorbs skills and knowledge from nearby characters.
-Scan/Analyze:Detect weaknesses in enemies. Determine if one is lying or not.
-+10 bonus to any stat
-+10 to dexterity
-Item of Renown

Hephaestus: -+10 to wisdom
-+10 to intelligence
-Invent
-Concoct
-Talk to Machines
-Fire summoning/Immune to fire/smoke
-Item of Renown

Aphrodite: -+10 to charisma
-Pheromone manipulation: Can release pheromones that can confuse others.
-Charmspeak: Can charm intelligent creatures into doing things. Works only when charisma is higher than the target.
-Grace of the Goddess: Grants additional experience from quests and battles to all heroes.
-Change Complexion: Can change outward appearances like a chameleon. Changing clothes, hair, face, and body to look like somebody else. Cannot change into organisms.
-Immune to statuses
-Empathic Link: Can read emotions and sometimes thoughts of others.

Hermes: -Unlocking touch: Opens all locks.
-Treasure Scent: Can sense valuables or hidden areas/items.
-+10 to dexterity
-Trap Sense/Disarm Trap
-Speed of Mercury: For 1d20 energy per turn a character's dex is increased by 1d10x and the character gains an additional turn equal to their dex/10. (Can only use technique once a day).
-Message master/ Gatherer of Information: Well informed, can send/receive messages for free. Always able to gain news in someway.
-Nimble Fingers: can steal items from others if dexterity is higher than target's intelligence.
